As you walk along in the city in November you might come across some strange things. Small and suprising things occur in your way to school, work and home. The route from east to west introduces an entity also known as Forces of Light. Take this brochure with you when you are on the metro and find the artworks on your way. Get to know your city.

Forces of Light is a urban event held in Helsinki each year since 1995. We research the urban space and its use during the darkest period of the year. Citizens from various backgrounds take part in Forces of Light. We try to create opportunities for them to see their city as a dynamic space for art and events.

The 13th edition of Forces of Light presents 16 artworks and projects as well as three smaller events. The theme is metro route from east to west. Artworks are located near the stations, on them or by the rail. This makes the accessibility as easy as possible.

Forces of Light is a member of the Internationale Network Of Festivals Of Light. This November, artists Arno Piroud, Victor Vieillard and Sara de Gouy from Superflux festival, France take part in our Forces of Light. In return, Finnish light designer Liisa Kyrönseppä participates within their Superflux event from 6th to 9th of December. Artists from Helsinki's Forces of Light will also exhibit in Tallinn's Valgus festival in January 2008.
